Abstract
This paper aims to discuss how the learning paradigm should evolve in line with digital transformation. For the purpose of the study, the concept of digital transformation at various levels was examined. Then, I seek to explain what kind of teaching and learning approaches are required. The aim was to emphasise the need for a paradigm shift in teaching and learning in response to recent technological advancements. I proposed two key perspectives as essential aspects for a paradigm shift in our future education system. Firstly, I highlighted the importance of tailored teacher education that takes into account the changing roles of teachers throughout their professional life cycle. As a teacher’s role within the school varies according to their professional life cycle, I proposed teacher education that accounts for these changes. Secondly, I proposed a transformation of the learning delivery system through the use of immersive media based on extended reality. It was argued that we must move beyond a knowledge-centred learning delivery system and give fresh consideration to extended reality-based learning activities that can provide learners with diverse learning experiences. Furthermore, it was emphasised that for these technological changes to lead to tangible changes in education, teaching and learning methods, assessment methods, and the competencies of the teachers utilising them must all evolve in tandem. Through this discussion, the aim was to examine the various challenges and tasks that must be considered in education as it prepares for future digital transformation.
